The Urologist will specialize in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of conditions affecting the urinary tract in both males and females, and the male reproductive system. This role involves medical and surgical interventions for conditions ranging from kidney stones to cancers of the genitourinary system.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Clinical Duties:

  • Evaluate patients presenting with urinary tract symptoms, kidney stones, prostate conditions, bladder disorders, and male reproductive issues.
  • Diagnose conditions using clinical assessment, imaging (e.g., ultrasound, CT scan), and endoscopic procedures.
  • Perform various urological surgeries, including endoscopic procedures (e.g., cystoscopy, ureteroscopy), prostate surgeries, and kidney surgeries.
  • Manage urinary tract infections, sexual dysfunction, and male infertility.
  • Provide cancer screening and treatment for urological malignancies (e.g., prostate, bladder, kidney cancer).

Administrative Duties:

  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient medical and surgical records.
  • Collaborate with nephrologists, oncologists, and other specialists for comprehensive patient care.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of specialized urological equipment.

Educational Duties:

  • Educate patients on their conditions, treatment options, and preventative measures for urinary tract health.
  • Stay updated with advancements in urology, including new surgical techniques and medical therapies.

Requirements & Qualifications

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Medical Doctor (MD) degree from a recognized institution.
  • Specialization in Urology.
  • Valid professional license by the Ethiopian Food and Drug Authority (EFDA) or equivalent regulatory body in Ethiopia
  • Minimum of 3 years of demonstrable post-specialization experience in Urological practice.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficiency in common urological procedures and surgeries.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
