The Musculoskeletal Radiologist will specialize in the imaging diagnosis and evaluation of disorders affecting the musculoskeletal system. This includes diseases and injuries of bones, joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments, soft tissues, and the spine. The role involves the interpretation of diagnostic imaging studies, image-guided procedures, and collaboration with orthopedic surgeons and other specialists to ensure accurate diagnosis and optimal patient care.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clinical Duties:
- Evaluate patients through diagnostic imaging studies including X-ray, ultrasound, computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the musculoskeletal system.
- Diagnose and report a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, including fractures, joint disorders, sports injuries, musculoskeletal tumors, infections, degenerative diseases, and spinal abnormalities.
- Perform and interpret image-guided musculoskeletal procedures such as joint injections, aspirations, biopsies, and therapeutic interventions.
- Provide timely and accurate radiology reports to support clinical decision-making and treatment planning.
- Collaborate closely with orthopedic surgeons, rheumatologists, physiotherapists, sports medicine specialists, and other healthcare professionals in patient management.
- Participate in the evaluation and management of musculoskeletal emergencies through rapid imaging interpretation and consultation.
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate, detailed, and timely radiological records and reports.
- Ensure compliance with radiation safety standards, imaging protocols, and quality assurance measures.
- Collaborate with radiology technologists and other healthcare professionals to optimize imaging quality and patient care.
- Participate in departmental meetings, clinical audits, and quality improvement programs related to musculoskeletal imaging services.
Educational Duties:
- Educate patients and their families regarding imaging procedures, findings, and recommended follow-up investigations when appropriate.
- Mentor radiology residents, medical students, and junior healthcare professionals in musculoskeletal imaging principles and practices.
- Conduct and participate in clinical conferences, multidisciplinary team meetings, and continuing medical education activities.
- Engage in continuous professional development to remain updated with advancements in musculoskeletal imaging techniques and technologies.
