The Breast Radiologist will specialize in the imaging diagnosis, screening, and evaluation of breast diseases and conditions. The role involves interpreting breast imaging studies, performing image-guided breast procedures, collaborating with multidisciplinary breast care teams, and contributing to the early detection, diagnosis, and management of breast cancer and other breast disorders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clinical Duties:
- valuate patients through breast imaging studies including mammography, digital breast tomosynthesis, breast ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and other specialized breast imaging modalities.
- Interpret and report screening and diagnostic breast imaging examinations accurately and in a timely manner
- Diagnose and evaluate a wide range of breast conditions, including benign breast diseases, high-risk lesions, and breast malignancies.
- Perform image-guided breast procedures such as biopsies, cyst aspirations, wire localizations, marker placements, and other minimally invasive interventions within the scope of practice.
- Provide recommendations for further imaging, tissue diagnosis, follow-up, and management based on imaging findings.
- Collaborate closely with breast surgeons, oncologists, pathologists, radiation oncologists, primary care physicians, and other specialists involved in breast care.
- Participate in multidisciplinary breast cancer conferences and contribute to treatment planning and patient management.
- Support breast cancer screening and early detection programs through adherence to established screening guidelines and quality standards.
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate, detailed, and timely radiological records and reports.
- Ensure compliance with breast imaging quality standards, radiation safety requirements, accreditation guidelines, and quality assurance programs.
- Collaborate with radiology technologists and nursing staff to optimize imaging quality, patient safety, and patient experience.
- Participate in departmental meetings, clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and breast imaging performance reviews.
Educational Duties:
- Educate patients and their families regarding breast imaging procedures, findings, biopsy processes, and recommended follow-up care when appropriate.
- Mentor radiology residents, medical students, technologists, and junior healthcare professionals in breast imaging principles and practices.
- Conduct and participate in multidisciplinary meetings, educational sessions, research activities, and continuing medical education programs.
- Engage in continuous professional development to remain updated with advancements in breast imaging technologies, screening strategies, and breast cancer diagnosis and management.
